At Stockdale, we're committed to helping you succeed throughout your studies. From your first day through to graduation, you'll have access to a wide range of learning resources, academic assistance, and student support services designed to help you achieve your goals and make the most of your university experience.

Whether you need help with your studies, access to learning materials, research support, or guidance on your wellbeing, our staff are here to support you.

Learning Management System (Canvas)

Canvas is your central online learning environment and the primary platform for your studies.

Through Canvas, you can:

Access unit outlines, learning materials and announcements

Participate in online learning activities

Submit assessments

Receive feedback and grades

Communicate with teaching staff and classmates

Access academic support resources and important student information

You'll receive your Canvas login details before classes commence.

Library and Online Resources

Our library provides access to high-quality academic resources to support your learning and research throughout your studies.

Students have access to:

Prescribed textbooks and unit readings

eBooks and electronic journals

Academic databases

Research and referencing resources

Study skills materials

Printing and scanning facilities

Quiet and collaborative study spaces on campus

Library access is provided during orientation using your student login credentials.

Library staff are available to assist students with accessing library resources, using academic databases, and developing research skills. Information about library support services is available in the Student Handbook.

Academic Learning Support

Developing strong academic skills is an important part of university study. Our academic learning support services are available to all students and are designed to help you build confidence and achieve academic success.

Support is available in areas including:

  • Academic writing and referencing
  • Research and information literacy
  • Understanding assessment requirements
  • Study planning and time management
  • Exam preparation
  • Interpreting feedback and improving performance
  • Transitioning to Australian higher education
  • Responsible and ethical use of generative AI

Support may be provided through:

  • Individual consultations
  • Small group sessions
  • Academic workshops
  • Online learning resources
  • Self-paced study materials available through Canvas

Teaching staff are also available to discuss unit content, clarify assessment requirements and provide academic guidance throughout your studies.

Supporting Your Academic Progress

We're committed to helping you succeed throughout your studies. As part of this commitment, Stockdale monitors student academic progress to identify students who may benefit from additional support.

If it appears that you're experiencing academic difficulties or are at risk of not meeting course progression requirements, we may contact you to discuss your progress and connect you with appropriate support services. This may include academic skills support, meetings with teaching staff, or referrals to Student Support. Our goal is to identify challenges early and work with you to help you stay on track and achieve your study goals.

Academic support is intended to develop independent learning skills. Students remain responsible for all work submitted for assessment and are expected to comply with the University's Academic Integrity requirements.

Student Support Services

Studying at Stockdale can present new opportunities as well as new challenges. Our Student Support team provides advice, guidance and referrals to help you navigate your studies and student experience.

Support may include assistance with:

  • Transitioning to higher education studies
  • Managing study-related challenges
  • Accessing university services
  • Wellbeing support
  • Accessibility and reasonable adjustments
  • Referrals to specialist support services where appropriate

Wellbeing and Counselling

Looking after your wellbeing is an important part of succeeding at university. Confidential wellbeing and counselling support is available for students experiencing personal, emotional or study-related challenges.

Students are encouraged to seek support early whenever they need assistance.

Support may include:

  • Short-term counselling
  • Wellbeing services
  • Information on specialist services
  • Assistance following unexpected personal circumstances

Accessibility and Inclusive Learning

We are committed to providing an inclusive learning environment where all students have equitable access to education.

International Student Support

International students have access to the same academic and student support services as all students, together with additional assistance relating to studying and living in Australia.

Support is provided in accordance with the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act and the National Code and may include assistance with:

  • Accessing services
